Rushion’s Kitchen Fluffy Brioche Skillet Rolls with Salted Maple Butter

Ingredients

1 cup whole milk, warmed

2 tablespoons honey

2 ½ teaspoon active dry yeast, 1 packet

4 cups of bread flour

2 tablespoons sugar

1 teaspoon kosher salt

3 large eggs

½ cup unsalted butter, softened and cut into pieces

extra butter, for the pan

1 large egg + 1 teaspoon water, lightly beaten for egg wash

flaky salt, for topping

salted maple butter

½ cup salted butter

2 to 3 tablespoons maple syrup

flaky salt, for topping

Instructions

Step 1

Microwave oat milk for 45 seconds to make sure the milk is warm, but not hot. You want it to be 110 to 115 degrees F.

Step 2

Mix the warm milk, honey and yeast together in a measuring cup or bowl. Let it sit until it becomes foamy for about 30 minutes.

Step 3

Use your electric mixer with a dough hook. Add the flour, sugar, salt and yeast mixture to the bowl. Add eggs. Mix until combined. Continue to mix and knead the dough with the dough hook until it becomes soft and sticky, about 5 minutes.

Step 4

After 5 minutes, add the butter pieces. Continue to mix and knead for another 5 to 10 minutes, until the butter is incorporated and the dough is soft.

Step 5

Transfer the dough to a greased bowl and cover it. Let it rise for 1 hour in a warm oven, or until it’s doubled in size.

Step 6

After it’s risen, punch the dough down. Divide the dough into 16 separate pieces. Form the pieces into rolls, pinching the bottom so they stay together.

Step 7

Rub butter all over two oven-safe skillets or one 9x13 inch dish. Place the dough pieces in the skillets (dividing them evenly) or in the baking dish. Cover in a warm oven and let rise for another hour or doubles in size.

Step 8

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Brush the tops of the rolls with the egg wash. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until they are soft and fluffy. Rub the tops with butter and sprinkle with flaky salt.

Step 9

  • Serve with the maple butter!
